Leaked renders preview Fitbit Charge 2 with large screen, swim-proof Flex 2

Fitbit can’t really hope to snatch Apple’s wearable profit crown away anytime soon, as it remains focused on selling activity trackers at between $80 and $150, and pseudo-smartwatches for around $200, but copiously dominating the fledgling market in terms of volumes is no small feat either.

To consolidate this leadership position, and keep the likes of Xiaomi or Garmin at bay, a couple of low-cost fall 2016 hardware releases have essentially been confirmed a little while back, and today we get to see the upcoming Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Flex 2 in the flesh.

Well, more or less, as these very credible leaked images are press renders rather than real-life pics, nonetheless flaunting the two wrist-worn devices in all their minimalistic glory. Compared to the original models, the Charge 2 appears to sport a considerably larger screen (hopefully, again of the OLED variety), whereas the Flex 2 displays its LED indicators differently (i.e. in vertical position), which allows it to reduce bulk and slim down the figure.

Additionally, the Fitbit Charge 2 should incorporate continuous PurePulse Heart Rate monitoring technology as standard, with the Flex 2 not just splash-proof, but altogether swim-proof too. We’re yet to hear of other changes or upgrades, so we may need to wait until late November to get the full story.
