Samsung Shipped 80 Million Smartphones

Samsung announced its Q2 financial results recently and the company saw increased revenue on improved smartphone sales.

According to a recent report, Samsung shipped close to 80 million smartphones in quarter 2 of 2016, the news comes in a report from Canalys.

Samsung did not reveal any specific numbers of the volume of handsets shipped, but they did say that their smartphone sales had increase, specifically the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets.

Samsung’s earnings improved QOQ thanks to strong sales of its flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones. Additionally the company achieved growth in the second quarter by maintaining the profitability of mid- to low-end models, such as the Galaxy A and J series, and improving the product mix by raising the sales proportion of the Galaxy S7 edge to over 50 percent.

It will be interesting to see if Samsung can increase their smartphones sales in their next financial quarter.
