Apple’s 2017 iPhones could be even bigger

If the iPhone 6S Plus was too much phone for you, we have some bad news for your thumbs – Apple has been tipped to launch an even bigger handset in 2017.

The tech giant is planning to release a whopping 5.8-inch smartphone by the end of the year, according to DigiTimes (via The Motley Fool).

The new super-sized iPhone will further blur the line between the handset range and Apple’s iPad tablet line, and the report suggests it will be the first iOS device to feature an AMOLED display.

OLED and AMOLED screens enable manufacturers to create thinner, lighter and more flexible handsets with brighter displays and longer battery life.

Apple has already dabbled in this display tech with the Apple Watch, which achieves longer battery life by turning off pixels when required.

It is unclear whether the 5.8-inch iPhone will replace the Plus model, or provide an even larger size option for customers.

Reports suggest that Apple is also embracing smaller displays, with a 4-inchiPhone 5SE expected to debut at its spring press conference later this month.
