Winter is coming, and while you might now be in full hibernation prep mode, scoffing the chocolates and piling on the pounds to help get you through the winter months, Google’s got other ideas.

Keen to keep you fit rather than letting you hide that extra eating behind a thick jumper, the search giant is letting you listen to a number of fitness playlists while you work out, completely for free.

What’s the catch? Well, there’s not one. Instead, Google has teamed up with popular fitness app Runtastic to offer a range of Google Play Music playlists to help motivate you to a new PB.

Simply open up the music section of the Runtastic app, and you’ll have 10 high-energy playlists to choose from.

These range from ‘Today’s Running Hits’, which only features songs with more than 130 beats per minute to match your pace, to ‘Chart Workout’ and ‘High-Energy Hard Rock’ playlists.

As well as offering free access to these custom curated playlists, Runtastic users will also be offered a free Google Play Music full trial.

“Based on scientific studies and feedback from our valued users, we’ve known for years, just how important and motivating music can be for fitness fanatics,” Runtastic co-founder and CEO Florian Gschwandtner said.

“As they say, the devil’s in the details, and we want to take as much guess work and effort out of the fitness experience for our users.”
