How did the ipod get so popular?

How did the ipod get so popular in the first place? And does anyone know how many different ipod accessories (such as iCube) there are and names of them?

How did it get so popular? Simple: Apple Marketing, and the price was reasonable. When you compare it with the Sony Walkman (cassette tapes) in the early 1980s, the equivalent price (adjusted for inflation) of the first iPods was about the same as a Walkman.

As for accessories. IDK.
