This Nexus 5X camera anomaly can turn your world upside down

The camera on Google’s Nexus 5X smartphone is turning the world upside down, quite literally.

Users have taken to Reddit to report that images captured using the rear snapper within certain apps are coming out the wrong way up.

Google hasn’t commented on the issue, but an app developer posting in the same message thread claims to have identified the cause.

The problem apparently stems from the fact that many third-party Android developers are yet to update their apps to the new Camera2 API, which automatically optimises image orientation.

In other words, it’s not Google’s fault – you’ll just have to wait for the app developers to issue software updates if you’re experiencing this issue.

Photographs captured through the Nexus 5X’s default camera app are appearing the right way up.
