ZTE Axon Multy rumored to launch in October with foldable dual screen design

If you think every smartphone released nowadays looks like a boring black slab, you may be interested in a new ZTE device that’s leaked out today.

ZTE is prepping a dual screen smartphone called the Axon Multy, according to a report from VentureBeat. The Axon Multy reportedly has two 1920×1080 displays that, when folded up vertically, face the front and rear of the phone. When unfolded, the displays meet at the hinge to form a 6.8-inch panel.

Other rumored features of this ZTE Axon Multy are said to include a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, a 20-megapixel rear camera, and a 3,120mAh battery.

It’s said that AT&T will be the exclusive carrier for the ZTE Axon Multy and that the device will launch in mid-October for $650.

We saw Kyocera try the dual screen form factor several years ago with the Echo, a device that never really seemed to gain much traction with consumers. We’ll have to wait and see if ZTE has better luck with its Axon Multy, but if anything, this rumored device could provide a reprieve from the stream of black slab smartphones.
